Harvest Fall. October 28th, 2013

Dear Friends,

Changing season and rain. And soon the time change as well. I look out upon the garden giving way to rest. Trees letting go of their leaves giving way to rest. Energy moving down to roots and earth. Peaceful submission in nature to our Creators Wisdom.

Do you know what a blessing it is to have so much abundant food? This is Harvest. Our Farmers have done important work to bring in the bounty and offer it to you. It’s a passion really. If seed is in hand it will get planted!

Have you put up food for the coming winter? Now is the time to do it. It’s so good to open a jar of beets in February or pull out the Pesto anytime.

Keep your dollars in our local economy and buy from sustainable farmers.

Stay in Gratotude for all the abundance and enjoy the seasons changes.

Friday October 25th- Harvest!

It’s COLD! Hasn’t warmed up that much where I live. Fire’s going in the stove and Jumpin Goat coffee brewing with some Chocolate Brownie Cocoa to add.

There are a few new products to tempt your taste for fall hardiness dishes. Seminole Pumpkins and White Spaghetti Squash. Both are Heirlooms so you can save the seeds and share them with gardener friends. And I’ve added a few of my recipies for you to try.

Harvest Market at Patrick Square in Central/Clemson next Friday from 3:30 to 6:30. Quite a few of our Farmers will be attending.

Market opens this evening and stays open until Monday afternoon.

Stay Warm!

Monday Morning Indulgence! Oct. 21

INDULGENCE of the Chocolate kind!

With slightly over 200 farm products to offer you, did you notice CHOCOLATE Layer Cake from Sylvan Falls Mill? If heaven were a cake this would be it!

*Chocolate Brownie Cocoa * from Jumpin Goat Coffee Roasters. This is deeply rich, with just a touch of sweetness that really does live up to it’s reputation of being the BEST! The real test? Add it to water. Result: Wow! It stirs in easily and maintains that deep gourmet chocolate you expect. Added to coffee it will challenge anyone who spends tons of money on mochas. Make your own with this cocoa. It’s really really good!
(I’m on my second cup).

With most markets over our farmers sell their products almost exclusively on the Locally Grown web-sites and CAFE in Clemson. I urge you to support both of these on-line markets (depending on the nearest location to you).

It’s Fun and satisfying to keep your dollars local and your nutrition high!

Happy Monday

Happy Day to you.

Farmers Growing for You!

Good Day Friends,

Welcome Mill Gap Farm to our group of sustainable farmers! We are very happy to offer their fine products. Check out their Grower Page! They are offering a fine assortment of not so ordinary and very tasty peppers and turnips!

My message today is about getting all your basic food stuffs from your farmers. Today I made a breakfast of eggs, eggplant, peppers, onion, garlic, swiss chard, kale, with goat cheese and Jumpin Goats Coffee “Signature Blend” with goats milk as creamer. Every single ingredient was sourced from my farm and the farmers listed on our site. It’s very satisfying to prepare and eat food that’s freshly harvested. And nothing beats the taste of food grown without chemicals. Plus the nutrient value is way higher than conventionally grown food.

Get into the habit of sourcing your food directly from your farmers! And the farmers on Locally Grown grow everything without harmful chemicals so you can rest easy that your food is CLEAN!

Our Farmers offer all the basics you would need for the week and then some. So fill your carts with good food !

Market Opens Early this evening.

Happy Eating!

Lovely rainy morning.

A good coffee kind of morning. I’m having Jumpin Goats Triple Pleasure this morning. Haven’t been into flavored coffee until Now! The owners convinced me to ‘try’ some flavors. I’ve tasted Triple Pleasure with it’s deeply rich chocolates and caramel ,Southern Pecan and my favorite, ‘Pumpkin Spice’ ! Im actually surprised that the coffee flavors from Jumpin Goat Coffee taste this good! Try it for yourself!

The log grown Shitake Mishrooms are superb!
I cooked a few in butter with a little salt and pepper. Delicious! And enough food for two people eating just mushrooms.

Stock up on your Winter Squash now. Walthum
Butternut Squash have a deeply satisfying rich flavor. And these keep really well.
